Abundance

It's that time of the year again...
Destination currently unknown- jam, dried, bottled? A fair share will be eaten fresh but there are a lot more coming, and other stone fruit as well, like these nectarines.

These onions and garlic are just the tip of the vegie iceberg.

Harvest time. Life is good. Thanks Vegie garden man, Mr. Apple (that's one of my ways of saying I am crap at the garden- I am often great at the cooking/ preserving end though!)

  1. Happy New Year Mrs Apple! I do usually love this abundant time of the year but this year due to floods and humidity its not to be and I miss it. I have even been buying lettuces!! At least there're the berries I have been jamming and preserving and making into icecream. Have fun. I can only imagine how divine your kitchen is smelling. X

  2. Oh, I miss sun-ripened apricots.... grew up with them not far from where you are now... shop-bought doesn't cut the mustard with me.

I love a good harvest. I'd be jamming like nobody's business.... nothing finer than homemade jam from your own crop!!!

  3. Lovely haul. In our little suburban garden we have some cherry tomatoes ripening. A shame our Staffy is pulling our few apricots and nectarines of our espalier branches :(

  4. Oh they look so great! I am missing summertime fruits and veggies; I wish I could take a bite out of those right now. :)

This year I pledge to build a vegie garden - I want produce that looks like that!

    Hi Tanya,

I can't tell you how impatient I'm getting about our house renovations which stalled some time back in October. You see, after the rear of our house has been demolished and re-built, we're having the concrete removed from our driveway so that I can plant up a new garden bed. And I have great plans for ordering some fruit trees from you guys.

Mmmm ... I grew up on a very productive acreage and although I love inner-city life, I also miss the seemingly endless supply of home-grown fruit and veg. I'll definitely call you in autumn and see if you can help me pick out some yummy varieties!
